Occupational Therapy Across Adelaide’s Inner West

Your child’s morning routine has turned into a 45-minute negotiation, and the school drop-off leaves everyone tired before the day has even started. When everyday tasks ask a lot of your child, finding the right support close to home matters. Learn for Life provides occupational therapy from our Torrensville clinic and through community visits across Adelaide’s inner western suburbs, helping children, teens, and adults build the practical skills they use in everyday life.

Yes. With your consent, our therapists can visit your child’s school or early learning centre to provide therapy in the environment where the day naturally unfolds. School-based sessions help your child practise skills in context and allow the therapist to collaborate with educators on strategies that support your child throughout the day.

Learn for Life accepts NDIS funding (self-managed and plan-managed), Medicare (with a GP referral under a Chronic Disease Management plan), private payment, private health insurance rebates, and Department for Child Protection funding. Your therapist will discuss the options with you at your initial consultation.

No. Your child does not need a diagnosis to access occupational therapy. Many families come to us because they have noticed certain everyday tasks are asking more of their child than expected. An initial consultation can help clarify whether OT support may be helpful, whether or not a diagnosis is in place.

Clinic-based sessions take place in our purpose-built therapy space in Torrensville, with access to specialised equipment and sensory tools. Community visits happen in your home, school, or another everyday setting, which can be particularly helpful for practising skills where they are used most. Many families use a combination of both.

We support individuals from toddlers through to adults. Our therapists work with preschoolers, school-aged children, teenagers, and young adults. We also support adults with neurological conditions, physical disabilities, and daily living goals. Therapy is tailored to the individual’s age, stage, and goals.

A standard session includes 45 minutes of face-to-face therapy, along with time for session preparation and clinical note writing. Assessment sessions may vary in length and are quoted separately. Your therapist will discuss session structure and frequency during your initial consultation.

The first appointment is focused on getting to know you and understanding your goals. Your therapist will ask about everyday routines, what is going well, and what you are hoping to achieve. For children, the session is kept relaxed and child-led. Afterwards, your therapist will share their observations and suggest next steps. There is no pressure to commit to ongoing sessions.

Yes. Learn for Life offers flexible delivery, and you can move between clinic-based and community-based sessions depending on your goals and circumstances. Your therapist will work with you to decide which setting is most appropriate at each stage of your therapy journey.
